PARENTS – PARTNERS IN OUR CENTRE
We, the Centre and the Parents, share a
common goal: Making sure that children receive the best possible education.
Mutual respect and communication between programs and familities takes
advantage of both perspectives to provide children with the kind of care and
education that will help them thrive. Today’s
family members and teachers have many responsibilities and time constraints.
It takes extra effort on both sides to build strong partnership.
Thus, our Centre has:
- Share pertinent information
about the child on a regular basis, especially in programs caring for
infants and toddlers. We have
established system for keeping records and reporting to parent about each
child’s progress.
- Communicate with parents
about children’s assignment or activities ahead of time.
This will allow parents to set time aside for working with their
child (eg the Weekly Report).
- There will be Progress
Report bi-annually and the teacher will have a discussion with the Parent
about their child’s progress.
- Published quarterly
Newsletter to keep parents up to date on activities and some useful tips.
- Ask parents to bring in
odds and ends from home (boxes, old story books, Yakult bottles etc)
- Parents’ get-together
session. Welcome parents into the program or classroom to give talks regards
to their professionals, knowledge etc.
